Rules & Regulations

  • Entries close Tuesday, September 18th. Entry fee of $20.00 per head must accompany all entries. NO LATE ENTRIES AND NO REFUNDS. SCALES CLOSE @ 8:00 P.M.
  • NO CATTLE are to be on fairgrounds before 7:00 A.M. on FRIDAY, September 21st.
  • A sale commission appropriate to cover the cost of the show and sale will be deducted from the sale of each calf.
  • Calves must be sired by beef bulls. No visible dairy characteristics will be accepted. The OFCR Committee will make determinations.
  • Only consignments from the state of Ohio will be accepted.
  • All Calves eligible for registration must have registration papers at weigh-in. OFCR will be responsible for transferring papers and deducting fee from consignor. Minimum of five head for a breed class.
  • Calves must be dropped after January 1st of the current year and will be weighed for classes.
  • Castration And Dehorning – Calves that have any testicular tissue in the scrotum will be rejected. Open (knife) castration at least four weeks prior to the Ohio Feeder Calf Round Up is strongly suggested. Calves must be fully healed.
  • OFCR recommends that all calves be preconditioned.
  • Calves must weigh a minimum of 300# and cannot weigh more than 750#.
  • Calves must be weaned, started on feed and broke to lead.
  • All Calves must be fitted with a new rope halter. The halter goes with the calf when sold. Halters that are unsatisfactory will be replaced and the exhibitor charged.
  • Exhibitors must furnish hay and bedding. Bedding must be removed from the barn after the sale. A fee will be assessed to the exhibitor for bedding not removed.
  • No calf may be removed from the show and sale after it has been processed and weighed; except for sickness or injury which has been verified by the OFCR Committee or a veterinarian at exhibitors expense. All eligible calves that show must sell in the ring. Violators will not be permitted to show or sell the following year.
  • OFCRC reserves the right to reject any calf that does not meet the requirements as to size, age, quality, horns, late or incomplete castrations, diseases, etc.
  • Owners’ responsibility to be in line for sale order. Failure to do so forfeits sale position and requires selling at end of sale.
  • All calves are at the owner’s risk until sold, at which time the calves become the property of the buyer. Any veterinary fees before the sale will be charged to the exhibitor. Owner is responsible for receiving a release on their animal from the purchaser following the sale of the animal.
  • Payment to consignors may be withheld by OFCR Committee until all checks are cleared, after which payment will be made.
  • Consignors buying their own calves back: 10% of selling price will be collected at end of sale.
  • OFCR reserves the right to sell only the top 25 heifers. Only the top 175 steers will sell.
  • Ohio Dept. of Agriculture grooming rules will be enforced.
